Advanced EEG Analysis (AEA)

Aims of AEA II

The main goals of AEA II are

1. deepen and expand the acquired knowledge from AEA
2. acquiring profound competences in EEG data analysis methods in theory and practice
3. exchanging knowledge across interdisciplinary research groups.

Electroencephalography (EEG) is a widely used research method in neuroscience and related fields. However, skills in EEG data analysis methods are not a prominent topic in the curriculum in psychology, and psychologists often need to learn how to analyze EEG data on their own. In our peer-mentoring group “Advanced EEG Analyses II” (AEA II), we therefore intend to learn about different EEG data analysis methods and their application in research and to advance the knowledge gathered during the current peer mentoring group “AEA”.

Our group will, as it does now, consist of PhD students and Post-Docs from different research groups, partly the same participants as in the “AEA”. The only requirement to take part in the group is to have at least an intermediate knowledge in EEG data analyzing methods. This constellation will allow to exchange experiences, discuss problems, and complete exercises together. These new contacts can even lead to new research ideas and trigger new collaborations of different research groups.

To get insight into the selected topics, we will invite experts of the particular fields. Interested colleagues of our working environment are welcomed to join. Our activities will consist of a careful selection of workshops on approaches to the advanced analysis of EEG data.

We are convinced that AEA II will deepen the already acquired knowledge from AEA and that it is an excellent and unique opportunity for young and advanced researchers with a promoting impact on their scientific careers.
